### Quotes

A Quote is the price for a [Product](/docs/for-purchasers/introduction-to-products) that you can purchase from a [Supplier](/docs/for-purchasers/introduction-to-suppliers). Quotes are created when a Product is included in a [Catalog](/docs/for-purchasers/introduction-to-catalogs), along with a Unit Price and Tax % value. The Catalog must be assigned to your Purchasing Organisation for the Quote(s) contained therein to be visible to users at your Organisation.

#### Types of Quotes

Depending on which Catalog the Product is included in, the Quote can be either:

-   Self Managed (if it is in a [Self Managed Catalog](/docs/for-purchasers/introduction-to-catalogs#SupplierVsSelf-ManagedCatalog)), or 
-   Supplier Managed (is it is in a [Supplier Managed Catalog](/docs/for-purchasers/introduction-to-catalogs#SupplierVsSelf-ManagedCatalog)).

#### Master-Matched Quotes

Master Products (and the act of matching Products to Master) is how our platform knows which Quotes to compare against each other when pre-selecting the Best Quote in your [Requisitions](/docs/for-purchasers/introduction-to-requisitions):

Any Products that are matched to the same Master, that are also in Catalogs and assigned to your organisation, will be compared and are eligible for Best Quote selection or manual override in the relevant Requisition Types.

Your Suppliers may:

-   Opt to add [Master Products](/docs/for-suppliers/supplier-vs-marketboomer-owned-products#MarketboomerOwnedProducts) directly to their Catalog(s), or
-   Request to 'match' their Product(s) to a Master Product,

...so that their Products are eligible to appear in your Requisitions in a competitive pricing scenario.

### View Quotes

You can see all of the Quotes that are available to your Organisation from all of your Suppliers in the **\[Quotes\]** tab in the Side Navigation bar.

From this view, you can:

-   Search (and Advanced Search) for quotes on specific Products:

-   select from a number of different Column Preferences to customise your view of the Quotes Table:

-   And once you have found the Quote you are looking for, click on the **\[Product\]** name for more information about the Quote:

#### Quotes in a Requisition Context

Quotes are what users at your organisation see when they are creating a [Requisition](/docs/for-purchasers/introduction-to-requisitions). In some Requisition Types, our platform automatically compares quotes from different Suppliers for the same item and selects the Best Quote, without you having to select from the list:

### Manage Quotes

Depending on the [Type of Quote](#TypesOfQuotes), you may or may not be able to directly Manage the Quote in PurchasePlus.

**If the Quote is a Self Managed Quote** (i.e. it is a Product that is included in a Self Managed Catalog), simply navigate to the Catalog(s) that contain that Product and update the Price and/or the Tax % of the Product in that Catalog. **If the Quote is a Supplier Managed Quote** (i.e. the Product is in a Supplier Managed Catalog), then you will not be able to directly edit the Quote. You will need to liaise with your Supplier and ask them to update the Price and/or the Tax % of the Product in their Catalog(s).

### Create a Quote

Quotes are created when a Product is included in a [Catalog](/docs/for-purchasers/introduction-to-catalogs) with a Unit Price and Tax % value. There is no way to create a Quote outside of this process.

As a Purchaser, you can only create a [Self Managed Quote](#TypesOfQuotes). Your Suppliers must create Supplier Managed Quotes, if they have been engaged to manage their own Catalogs.

To Create a New Self Managed Quote:

1.  [Create a New Product](/docs/for-purchasers/create-a-new-product), if required. Or, If the Product already exists, then navigate to the Catalogs tab in the side navigation bar:

2.  Locate the Self Managed Catalog to which you would like to add the Product.
3.  Follow the steps in [this article section](/docs/for-purchasers/create-or-update-a-self-managed-catalog#AddProductsToSMCatalog) to add the Product to this Catalog with a Price and a Tax % value.
